Pianos are not a piece of furniture! It is a complex musical instrument consisting of 200+ strings and 10,000+ individual moving parts. Your piano deserves to be in the best possible condition so you can perform at your best! Any piano should be tuned every 6 months. But whether your piano was tuned 6 months ago or 6 years ago, with regular maintenance and tunings, it can get back to where it was and sound even better!
The following services are used to give your piano the care it needs. Most pianos will only require a tuning and/or a pitch raise. As I am always learning new things, more of these services will become available.
- Standard Piano Tuning: Needed for any piano every 6 months. The 200+ strings inside the piano are tightened to help it stay in tune.
- Pitch Raise: Needed for a piano that has not been tuned in a long time and can’t maintain its pitch when tightened. Pitch Raises and Tunings are usually done together. Some pianos require multiple pitch raises.
- Piano Repairs: Did your piano string snap? Did a piano key break? Soundboard in desperate need of a cleaning? Ask me how I know 🙂
- Voicing: If your piano sounds too loud or you want the piano to sound a specific way, the hammers in the piano can be “voiced” to make it have a more refined sound.
- Piano Regulation: Regulation refers to anything regarding the feel of the piano, including the keys, hammer, and action mechanism. For example, if you hear a clicking noise on a key, the keys feel very hard to play, or you can’t repeat notes very easily. Regulation is only needed every 5 years, but it can fix a lot of small issues in your piano.
